"Manjhi:- An unsung hero of Bihar"

The History of Bihar has been praiseworthy for a long time. A number of legends have taken birth here. Almost everybody is familiar with the history of Bihar. Here ,you are going to know about a stubborn Bihari named Dashrath Manjhi.

He was the one who did not know the importance of education. But people need to know about him if they want to be well educated. In 1929, this wonderful man took birth in the village, Gehlaur, near Gaya, Bihar. Nobody knew if he would be known as “The mountain man” as he belonged to a backward caste. His father and forefathers used to be labourers. They did not have their own farmlands.

He was married to a girl named Falguni at a very young age. But his wife’s father didn’t let her live with him because Dashrath had no job those days. At last, he brought his wife home with reconciliation and started loving her unconditionally.

One day an accident occurred and the rest of days became the history that must be read. During the time of her pregnancy, his wife fell down from the huge mountain while carrying food for him. There was no convenient route that could help him to take his wife for medical care. So, he had to lose his beloved wife due to the terrible accident.

Dashrath opened his mouth just for crying after his wife's death. By trying to control his feelings, he took the oath of breaking the huge mountain single-handedly. After making the diligent efforts of 22 years , he carved 110 m long (360 ft), 9.1 m (30 ft) wide and 7.7 m (25 ft) path through the hills using only a hammer and chisel.

Today, the path provides comforts to the people of his village. All those villagers should be eternally indebted to Dashrath Manjhi for the service which is not repayable. Many people go to see the Taj which is regarded as epitome of true love. In fact, the true epitome of true love is the path carved by the industrious lover, Manjhi. His great feat will always inspire the generations to come.
